Youth Fellowship, 3rd May 2008

Posted: May 1st, 2008, by ME

Dear all,

For this week’s Youth Fellowship, we will be having Street Evangelism for our upcoming Youth Gospel Rally.

We will be gathering in church first, at the Second Parsonage, 3 pm for a briefing by Ian before dispersing from there to the various places allocated to the groups.

Evangelism and missions are an integral part of the ministry of the church and we strongly invite and encourage you to come out of your comfort zones, bring along those evangelism cubes if they help. It makes sense to put what we have learnt from Dn John Ching’s workshop into practice (: For those who have not experienced first-hand street evangelism, do not fret for we will be pairing you up with experienced YFers/YAFers into groups of 2 to 3. Please be encouraged to come as your individual presence would be a motivator for everyone, and what’s more, there’ll be a likelier chance that someone out there would come to know Christ (:

‘…it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe’ - 1 Cor 1:21. We may not be experienced and though we may not be very courageous or coherent with sharing the gospel, God delights in our every effort made.

‘All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever i have commanded you; and, lo, i am with you alway, even unto the end of the world’ - Matt 28:18-20

Announcements:
1. Youth Gospel Rally - 17 May 2008, Saturday @ 2.15 pm, Chinese Service Hall. There will be a video that will feature John MacArthur on the ‘Gospel of Jesus Christ’. Please be encouraged to invite friends along and do pray that there will be some that will be brought to the saving knowledge of our Lord. Dinner will be provided as well so stay back and fellowship over the table.

2. Weekly Tues Night Prayer Meeting - the church meets at the Chinese Service Hall at 7.45 pm for a time of prayer. A church grows on its knees so come and pray with us!

3. YF retreat on the 6 & 7 June 2008 (fri to sat). For more details, you can contact Jonathan Khoo.

‘And be not conformed to this world; but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable and perfect, will of God’ - Roms 12:2

Hey YF! This week is CG prayer meeting week.

Dear YFers,
terribly sorry for the late mail!
Anyway, YF this week will be a CG Prayer meeting week. Its really a time for all of us to keep a lookout for each other’s problems and trials as well as keeping each other accountable. Remember how frustrating it was, most weeks when we share and never seem to have enough time? Perhaps this time would be able to, no matter how meagrely, make up for the lost opportunities - so make good use of it!
Your CG leaders would most probably have contacted you by now…
Have a Blessed Time reflecting this good friday and rejoicing this Easter!

YF on the 16th of Febuary 2008

Posted: February 21st, 2008, by ME
Dear YFers,
I pray your Lunar New Year was a most blessed one. YF resumes this coming week with a message!
The message is Remaining 2 takes 3- How to Stay Happily Married by ELDER Khoo.
I personally feel this is a very sensitive and daunting topic. We always have messages on how to look for the right spouses and how to go about courtship but then, we always stop there! This one goes goes so much further, especially with the years of experience of a most genteel elder. We know that marriages have ups and downs, and none are perfect; wouldn’t it be most intriguing to know what the bible says God’s design?
Remember also to memorize these verses for the coming weeks.
Proverbs 3:9,10 “Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:
So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.”
and
Matthew 9:37,38 “Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laboureres are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.”
There will be a video screening after YF at 7 PM on the “Mystery of Life”. Its a contemporary intelligent rebutt to the theory of evolution (the brochure in the weekly makes it sound like that). That video will be followed by “the story behind the hymn: How Great Thou Art”
be sure to stay back and watch these videos. They should be quite enriching to our spiritual convictions. If possible, do bring your friends or unsaved friends along as well.

NO YF on the 09 Febuary 2008

Dear YFers,
Here’s wishing all of you a Blessed Chinese New Year! I’m sure most of you would be visiting your relatives and gorging down new year goodies. Or maybe just the latter. In either case, YF has decided to give you your saturday to continue indulging yourself in these frivolities/festivities(or so i believe) - which i think is a good thing. haha. So remember! There’s no YF this coming saturday on the 9th of Febuary.
Repeat: There is no YF on the 9th of Febuary 2008!!
We’ll be catching up with our relatives quite a bit, so if we get any opportunities during this season, do be a messenger for Christ and share His message of salvation to those of our relatives who do not know Him yet. After all, small talk does have a way of ending up in a discussion of issues concerning life, doesn’t it? Trust in His strength when times get difficult, like when some things become hard to explain.
I pray your new year will be a pleasant and profitable one.

YF on the 2nd of Febuary 2008

Dear YFers!
I pray your week thus far has been a fruitful one; filled with victory through obedience, rich experiences of God’s grace, absolute security in His promises and hope in your difficulties. Do take a few minutes(I know you have a busy day), bearing with the painful strain of reading from the glaring computer screen, read the devotion below. I pray this verse would give you much assurance of God’s providence through your day.
“Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgements are a great deep: O Lord, thou preservest man and beast.” Psalm 36:6
It is obvious from the context that the language of the Psalmist is to be understood in such a sense that however great the depth of wickedness which there is among men, and though it seems like a flood which breaks forth and overflows the whole earth, yet still greater is the depth of God’s providence, by which he righteously disposes and governs all things. Whenever, therefore, our faith may be shaken by the confusion and disorder of human affairs, and when we are unable to explain the reasons of this disorder and confusion, let us remember that the judgments of God in the government of the world are with the highest propreity compared with a great depth which fills heaven and earth, that the consideration of its infinite greatness may ravish our minds with admiration, swallow up all our cares, and dispel all our sorrows.
